Ron Ramsey, a third generation woodcarver, was first introduced to carving amidst the chips and sawdust of his grandfather's studio. He received his first set of tools at age 11 and later served his apprenticeship. Beginning in 1971, and for the next 13 years, Ron carved signs, doors, mantels and sculpture in the Lake Tahoe area.

In 1984, Ron traveled to Europe, where he perfected his dynamic high relief style while carving for a gallery in Zermatt, Switzerland, and aboard a 135' schooner in Italy.

After a stint as artistic director of Artistic Woodworks in Vermont, Ramsey returned to the Sierras near Lake Tahoe. Here Ron continues his carved wood artistry to a perfection, reflecting the natural world around him.
